Government and nonprofits have been increasing their use of mapping to better identify need and allocate resources. This change is fundamentally redirecting the approach towards prioritizing when, where and whom receives resources. The approach provides a better means for organizations to identify practices that can be supported with evidence base measures. There are several on line mapping services that nonprofits can use at a reasonable price. A nonprofit should start with a small amount of information to get a visual result and understand what the tool is showing and then expand the information inputs.
