CHRIS: Do Something Other Than TV

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Nine year old promoting exercise over tv.

TV does not make anything. Sitting with my family playing my guitar is fun. My brother and I play UNO with our parents. Tonight we all played kickball. Sunday we went to the ZOO. Family time is important to me.

From Papa: “Government and nonprofits promoting and supporting opportunities for family time provide a non sexual and non violence means for children to grow up in a healthy environment. Help families to be informed of programs and have the ability to take advantage of the programs.”

A child point of view of being friends

My friend and I can be mad at each other but still be friends

I do not have to like everything my friend does and still be their friend.

I can be mad and still love my brother

I can be mad and still love my parents

I can do something wrong and my parents still love me.

 From Papa:

“Learning to balance feelings is an never ending conflict that children and adults both struggle with.  Nonprofits should as part of their employee support initiatives provide diversity  and building trust trainings. ”

Being thankful to a mother

My son and I jointly have produced this article.

“A day to recognize a mother and being thankful for her.  You can have more than one.”

Whether through birth or other reasons we come to have special feelings for women in our lives.  While our feelings are not limited to one day, Mothers Day focuses each of us on a day to reflect the persons effect on our life.

Nonprofits whom provide services to women especially in the area of domestic violence or elderly should take advantage of Mothers Day to have donors honor their mother and support your nonprofit programs.  Your nonprofit should be specific on how the donation will honor the donors mother.  Remember to use your fundraising to be a year round communication tool.

How to Save Money

Just because some things cost a lot of money does not mean you can not buy it. By saving your small money each week it adds up to big money. When you buy the thing you want you feel like a genius. After you do that you feel proud of your self.

Money just takes time.

GORDEND: The World Could be Fine!!!

The World is Fine by a six year old

This week in observing Earth Day my six year old and I had fun in the woods.  His conversation went something like this;

“The world is perfect and correct when I am walking in the woods. Then, next winter we cut down trees and in the spring we use them to cook our food. Then we use the leaves to make the fire with. The planet is real. It is important for animals to live on the earth; us too.

Are we an animal??

We need to be nice to nature, do not kick nature and kill it. If we are nice to nature, it will be nice to us.  We take care of nature like pets.”

Today we planted 26 trees that were grown by us and involved no use of vehicle transportation  to an area effected by construction and used fallen trees to cook our dinner and conserve our use of foreign fuels.  Any organization with its staff or community can start trees in a small space to be used elsewhere locally.

CHRIS: Littering is easy to solve

Don’t throw things out the car window. Don’t throw things on the ground. Don’t leave supplies in the woods when you hike. Don’t be lazy. Too many adults are not good examples, but that’s OK, they forget too. I try to remember too.

The other day we put out the trash. I do that for my allowance. I guess these big winds came while I was sleeping blew all of my homework around the other yards. My parent and I picked up what we could find. I like that my school has community day but not for my class. We kids like to have fun outside. Have a community day that involves the whole school. You can have your own community day it is easy. Just pick a day.

My Papa added this link for me: “Keep America Beautiful Inc.

CHRIS: Working With Parents

Chris going to work 2

Some people don’t get to work with their parents but Chris does. Parents love to be with their children. Even we get to spend time with the people we love. I learn to express myself through writing and drawing a cartoon. When you do that it just might inspire people. And soon it will start to pay off.

Be open to having us kids at work.

CHRIS: Youth Expression Through Singing

Singing is something that’s in your soul. It’s a tradition of your own culture. It’s in your heart. Kids, parents and neighbors can all have fun doing it.

You can do it anywhere.  Be part of something.

Eating Healthy

Health is important because it can save your life. Even the earth if you be nice to it. Grow carrots, tomatoes or a vegetable. I grow vegetables. Everyone needs water and food.

Support teaching kids how to grow food.
