green bunnybaby rising from the earth

Poems are really helpful. You can make angry poems, sad poems, happy, funny, or silly. Here is one poem I made which help me think what I am writing about.

GREEN

Green is a bush full of bunnies trees with daisies.

I can hear the trees howling back and forth.

I taste it’s watery veins it’s fur coat on hearing the new born baby bursting out of the ground pounding and pounding till it breaks the ground.

From Papa:

It is simple to imagine a visual means to make a point.  Poetry is an interesting exercise to assist in creating an image for its effectiveness.  Pics have been used to show how even a ten year old can come up with a descriptive image to use that draws an audience to a location.

The Story of the Two Musketeers

No prejudice here

From Chris and his friend Athos.

The Musketeers are people who solve mysteries and fight bad guys.  We drew this because it relates to our story.  You can make characters out of paper, cardboard, even scarp paper.  So you make your own story and forget TV.

From Papa:

Fingerprints, DNA or other attributes are ways to make each person unique in some way.  Imagination, creativity and solutions can be used in positive or negative ways.  The likely success of positive results begins with not being ignorant to differences.  Organizations need to be proactive in the education of its workforce and those they serve about diversity.

Profiling of a Donor

To make sure I can get what I want I give my parents hints.  For my birthday I would like a computer.  For school I need to be able to do research.  I will not  crash your computer if I have my own.  The computer screen will not get messed up.  This drawing of the car is from a Play Station game I want.  It has lots of cool cars.

From Papa:

Just like knowing the interests of our children, nonprofits need to know the interests of their current and potential donors.  There is nothing worst than showing a lack of interest in whom the donor is.  Did you do your homework about the donor?  Do you have talking points of interest to establish a personnel connections. Have you gathered information to create a profile on the donor and feel there is sufficient information to interact with the potential donor.  Play to the donors strengths and interest.  Remember you need to be in contact seven times to maximize the communication and increase results.   You do not ask for money every time.   Try an Internet search on the person and see what comes up.

CHRIS: Leadership From the Big Cheese

Interpretation of a Leader

John Hancock was not liked by England. He had lots of ships and signed the constitution.  England called him a bad guy.  Our country called him a good guy.  He is such a good guy I did my project on him.  He was a wise leader. He had lots lots of money.  He had lots of jobs and made more money.

George Washington fought a lot and was the first president.  He led lots of people in fights. No not fist fights.  Big huge battles.   He was so good he won our country.  He decided to share with everyone.  As the leader of the country he was a wise leader.  Everybody listen to him.  My friends and I called him the big cheese.

From Papa:

The one pattern that is consistent in history is the victor writes the official history.  The other two factors is that time does heal and economics is ultimately the strongest influence to move anyone individual or group towards the desired outcome.

 Chris Summer programs

When not in school keeping busy keeps me out of trouble. When I am bored things just happen. When I have plans it helps me wait. When I have no plans I get in trouble. My parents have signed me up for stuff. Most of the time I like the stuff. Not all my friends parents at school know about signing up for this stuff. I tell them to call my parents. Oh, I just told Papa they might get calls.

From Papa: So far we have been lucky its only been parents in the school yard where we have been asked to share information. Thanks Chris for promoting your parents to summer programming coordinator.

The use of summer interns is a very easy inexpensive way to run summer and school vacation programs. It also provides to a nonprofit organization a way to identify in advance potential employees to recruit, promote the brand and communicate to the community the nonprofit.

CHRIS: What Makes You Hear Music?

CHRIS: What makes you hear music

Music is everywhere. Waterfalls make music. Birds make music. People make music. Sometimes with their voice. Sometimes with an instrument. What ever you want to be can be your music.

From Papa:
The norm does not have to be the only way to deliver on the outcomes your nonprofit wishes to accomplish. If the all of the need was successfully reached then there would not be a need to evolve to reach those currently not served. A nonprofit to successfully evolve to promote their brand and to stand out among other nonprofits requires adapting and using all of the tools at an organization’s disposal. Remember to continuously learn and adapt to the changing environment that surrounds the nonprofit organization. An organization that has individuals with a passion towards their mission are usually able to achieve initial goals. Have a strategic plan. It provides the clear direction to be able to accomplish the set goals of the nonprofit.

Accomplishments are a great resource to create the right mood for donors and supporters to do more.

Building Trust and Brand

Telling a lie is not funny. Taking what is not yours is not funny. If you take someone’s money they would be looking for it. I know if I think I will not get into trouble.

From Papa:

Honesty builds trust. Trust builds respect. Respect builds brand. Brand respresents your nonprofit.  Your Brand is the most important aspect of marketing.  So think before you act.  It just may keep your nonprofit out of trouble.

Kennedy: A Role Model and A Beacon of Hope for Many

Example of A True Leader

MY SIX YEAR OLD DID THIS DRAWING OF HIS WISH TO VISIT SENATOR KENNEDY AND MAKE HIM FEEL GOOD; HE CONSIDERS SENATOR KENNEDY HIS FRIEND.

I was sadden by the news announcement today of Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts having brain cancer. Today my family prays for him and his family. No matter whether we are privileged to have Senator Kennedy for one year or many years in the future he will always be with many generations to come. He lead in government and he lead in his private life. There are two examples of his giving back to the community that I wish to highlight. When government would not respond the Kennedy’s created Citizens oil to provide fuel to low income families. They created Best Buddies dedicated to providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment to those with disabilities.

I wish to highlight Kennedy as an example to show how much of a difference one person can make. Which organizations or individuals are ready to make CHANGE AND BECOME THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS?

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR A NONPROFITS BOARD AND MANAGEMENT TO INCLUDE SUCCESSION PLANNING AS A COMPONENT OF THEIR STRATEGIC PLAN.

Protecting ourselves from the sun

Nine year discribing sun protection

Being outside is lots of fun. I forget that the sun can hurt me. When I remember there is a lot of things I can do to be safe. I only have to think but I just want to play. It is simple we all just need to do it. There is no reason to get hurt. I just need to use protection.  I use sunscreen, hats, umbrella, and shade. Oh, I drink water so do not get sick.

From Papa: “Did you take a walk to view Lilacs on Mothers Day, a walk in the zoo, watch your child play soccer, watched a baseball game or worked in the garden? Each event under the sun without the right protection and water can cause health problems. At one time or another each of us has not been prepared for the sun or a particular element of weather. When nonprofits and government organizations plan an outing it is important to state each time to participants those items that a person should bring. It all comes down to the risk planning. Better to have provided the information and it be forgotten then not communicate the information of being safe under the sun. For your employees send home a notice with the next pay check on the ways a person should protect themselves and their family members. In addition provide a notice on the signs of heat stroke and dehydration.”
